STATE FAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE Welding Instructor in SEDALIA, Missouri

SFCC provides a high-quality, geographically, financially and emotionally accessible education to more than 5,000 students who range from traditional college-age students to adult learners.

The college offers associate of arts, associate of fine arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees, professional and skills certificates, and noncredit courses and programs, and workforce development training in a 14-county area in central Missouri with locations in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Eldon, Lake of the Ozarks, Warsaw, at Whiteman Air Force Base, and online.

Position Purpose:A full-time welding instructors responsibility will include designing and instructing courses in the Welding Technology Program at the Sedalia, Missouri Campus. Courses included but are not limited to welding courses in the use of the Gas Metal Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and Flux Cored Arc Welding. The position is an exempt faculty position with full-load instructional responsibility. She or he will report to the Dean of Technical Education.

  • Make recommendations to the Dean for the distribution of needed funds and for the maintenance of budget files and reports.
  • Direct recruitment and selection of new faculty and staff members for his/her programs.
  • Responsible for mentoring new faculty and staff to ensure their understanding of the program and SFCC objectives and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with community agencies, business and industry, other SFCC.
  • Research and implement new technology that is aligned with current or emerging workforce trends.
  • Promote and maintain sustainable and responsive educational programming to meet workforce needs
  • Oversee and develop maintenance procedures for program facilities and equipment to meet all applicable state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Support the development of Department of Labor DOL approved and non- DOL apprenticeships
  • Ensure program operates in accordance with policies and procedures, OSHA, Hazardous Communication, FERPA, state law, and applicable
  • Assist with and participate in graduation activities.
  • Participate in advisory committee meetings to seek advice from professional community on program curriculum and services.
  • Directs recruitment and marketing efforts for program by collaborating with college resources in student services and marketing.
  • Collaborate with Navigator and faculty regarding Student Success.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate or higher degree in a Welding related field, with a minimum of 4 years of experience welding to an established Code.
  • CWI/CWE certification preferred or must achieve certification within 12 months.
  • College level instructional experience preferred.

Skills:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, demonstrate evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate student centeredness, be able to interact with a broad range of people with diverse backgrounds both on and off campus in a positive manner. Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work involves sedentary to light work in an office setting.
  • There is frequent sitting, with walking, standing and stooping occasionally required.
  • There is an occasional need to lift objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
