Dollar Bank FSB Loan Counselor - Collections in Canton, Ohio
The Loan Specialist (Loan Counselor) will effectively manage a delinquent consumer mortgage portfolio, utilizing an array of collection and workout techniques. This position will work directly with borrowers to reach a permanent resolution to their delinquency by communicating all options available to them. The Loan Counselor is expected to maintain delinquent ratios at percentages below MBA national averages.
*High School diploma or GED required; college degree preferred in a business related field
*Must have 1 year of collections or 3 years customer service experience
*Mortgage collection and/ or foreclosure experience preferred
*Experience with consumer collections, FHLMC,FNMA, FHA, VA, CFPB, and Loss Mitigation Programs preferred
*Thorough understanding of federal bankruptcy regulations and government collection laws including Fair Debt Collections Act and ECOA preferred
*Knowledge of loan documents preferred
*Knowledge of Fiserv/LoanServ system preferred
*Must have excellent mathematical and analytical skills
*Must be able to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and coordinate multiple and changing priorities in a deadline driven environment
*Must have excellent telephone, written, and verbal communication skills
*Must have strong propensity for detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
*Must be professional and courteous with internal and external customers
*Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications
*Effective communication with borrowers must be maintained. This requires that tact and diplomacy, as well as compassion and understanding, be utilized to accomplish the desired results.
*Manage daily portfolio of loans that has a variety of due dates as well as required communication timeframes
*Review loans to insure proper payment applications on lines of credit and secure term loans
*Contact borrowers to determine reasons for delinquency and to communicate the importance of keeping the loan current.
*Discuss payment options with the goal of keeping our borrowers in their homes and avoiding legal action.
*Maintain compliance with all federal, state, agency, and internal collection, loss mitigation, foreclosure, and bankruptcy policies and procedures.
