BUTLER COUNTY CHILDRENS CENTER Group Supervisot/ITCS in BUTLER, Pennsylvania

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

  • Assumes responsibility for the physical appearance and environment of his/her classroom including    its functional arrangement, organized appearance, and creates an enriching, stimulating and warm atmosphere that supports the children's and the adult's goals.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining supplies and equipment in good order and repair and submit, (in advance), written requests of needed supplies, equipment, repairs, etc.
  • Assumes responsibility for program planning for his/her classroom, including long-range and daily plans.  The program should be flexible, lending itself to the needs of children, involving long-range goals for each child, and ensuring a superb program of care and development.  The program should meet the child's emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs.
  • Meets with other supervising teachers, the Educational Coordinator to plan the educational program of the classroom.
  • Participates in all weekly sessions and available in-service programs that are necessary and relevant to the operation of the Center.
  • Submits monthly and/or weekly reports, as well as other reports to the appropriate supervisor on or before the due date.
  • Plans time wisely.
  • Prepares materials in advance, which are needed for the daily program.
  • Uses the children's rest time as staff work time to do record keeping, quiet conferences, mending of books and toys and preparing materials.
  • Coordinates staff responsibilities so that plans are carried out and as harmonious an atmosphere as possible is maintained.
  • Holds weekly staff meetings for communication and discussion of staff needs, conflicts, and ideas with appropriate resource person(s).
  • Assigns staff in a flexible way using staff's potential to the fullest (useful for particular classroom's program) so that collaboration is affected which contributes to the growth of all children and adults.
  • Assists classroom staff in cooperating as a flexible unit, by pooling all their resources to aid in the development of the individual child.'
  • Maintains, re-evaluates, and updates each child's developmental evaluation form.
  • Keeps adequate records of each child's needs, progress, and special action requested and/or obtained.
  • Consults with the Education Supervisor and Coordinates about individual children.
  • Participates in relevant training sessions during working hours, which are in no way in conflict with meeting the needs of the children.
  • Interacts with parents to provide an atmosphere in which the parent feels comfortable and therefore trusting as demonstrated by their support and reinforcement of the goals of the Center for their individual child.
  • When invited, attends parent meetings to help enhance an atmosphere of trust and a mutual working together of parents and teacher to decide (specific) goals for the individual child.
  • Evaluates and supervises the Assistants, Aides, and any volunteers in his/her classroom.
  • Promote Butler County Children's Center in the community by commonly sharing the responsibility of active recruitment of children.
  • Staff will support the program-wide adoption of the teaching pyramid model to promote the development of young children's social-emotional competence and address challenging behavior.
  • Staff will create and maintain a positive organizational culture by demonstrating the program-wide behavioral expectations in their social interactions with children, families, community members and colleagues.
